Silicon Nitride Probes |
The HYDRA line from Applied NanoStructures contains the world's first truly hybrid probes, having low stress silicon nitride cantilevers integrated with single crystal silicon tips. These probes offer the following advantages:
- Customized tip sharpness.
- Integrated silicon pad at the end of cantilever for laser reflection without a reflex coating.
- Versatile tip which can be made hydrophobic or hydrophilic for easy functionalization.
- Availability with one V-shaped or Rectangular shaped cantilever per chip, allowing the imaging of soft and delicate samples without disturbing the samples.
- Handle chip (substrate) made out of silicon with alignment grooves, designed to fit in to most SPM/AFM instruments.
- Ease of establishing electrical contact using backside metal coating.
- Similar shape and geometry of handle chips to that of our standard silicon probes.
- The only commercially available probes that allow for high resolution imaging in fluid without reflex coating.

HYDRA2R-50N Series |
Our versatile HYDRA2R-50N Series is primarily designed for force-distance applications in both air and fluid mediums. These probes have narrow, rectangular cantilevers and are suited for non-contact / tapping mode or contact mode applications.
Base Specifications:
- Length (µm): 50
- Spring Constant (N/m): 0.084
- Frequency (kHz): 77

HYDRA2R-100N Series |
Our versatile HYDRA2R-100 Series are used for imaging soft samples in both air and fluid mediums. These probes have narrow, rectangular cantilevers which are appropriate for both non-contact / tapping mode and contact mode applications.
Base Specifications:
- Length (µm): 100
- Spring Constant (N/m): 0.011

HYDRA4V-100N Series |
Our HYDRA4V-100N Series represent a great starting point when uncertain about which mode is appropriate for a given sample type. The medium spring constant and length provides an ideal balance between non-contact and contact mode applications, with the option to easily transition between the two modes.
